Housing for Soldiers Expands Beyond NCR

CAMP GENERAL EMILIO AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The second phase of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) – Philippine National Police (PNP) Housing Program is set to expand in the urban centers of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao as unveiled by the National Housing Authority (NHA) last Friday, October 5, at the Department of National Defense (DND) building, here.

This will provide a total of 31,200 housing units with at least one housing site in every region with a maximum of 1,500 units per location either city or municipality.Among the general locations for the Housing Program in Luzon are Benguet, La Union, Pangasinan, Cagayan, Nueva Ecija, Isabela, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Batangas, Cavite, Quezon, Albay, Camarines Sur, and the National Capital Region.

Korea Remembers Filipino Heroism

CAMP GENERAL EMILIO AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Republic of Korea (ROK) commemorated the heroism of our Filipino soldiers as they celebrated the 62nd Anniversary of the Philippine Exploratory Forces to Korea’s (PEFTOK) arrival in the country to participate in the Korean War.

This year, the anniversary celebration was conducted at The War Memorial of Korea in Yongsan, Seoul and was graced by guests from the host country, Philippine Embassy, United Nations Command Military Armistice Commission (UNCMAC), Filipino community leaders, and several veterans and war allies associations.

Soldiers Support Youth’s Mangrove Planting

Camp Evangelista, Cagayan de Oro City– The 4th Civil-Military Operation Battalion of the 4th Infantry Division supported the National Youth Commission and the Association of Youth Leaders in Northern Mindanao in planting mangroves along the coastal area of Barangay Taytay, El Salvador City last September 23, 2012.

More than 150 youth from the different municipalities of Misamis Oriental volunteered and joined the mangrove planting activity.

Six Army recruitment examination centers set for Western Visayas

More than 2,400 service member aspirants are expected to take the scheduled Philippine Army Aptitude Test Battery (PAATB) and other Army pre-entry examination in six testing centers in Western Visayas in October.

"We are preparing accordingly for the dates set in this region. As we have experienced in Samar and Leyte provinces in August, exam centers had more than 400 examinees each", said Maj Joseph Laguna, chief of the Army Recruitment Office (ARO) for the Visayas.

Camp Lukban, Catbalogan City, Samar – The new military commander of the 802nd Infantry Brigade of the 8th Infantry (Stormtroopers) Division, Philippine Army based in Ormoc City was installed on September 14, 2012 at 11 o’clock in the morning during the change of Command Ceremony.

Major General Gerardo T Layug, Commander of 8th Infantry Division, as the Presiding Officer and Guest of Honor and Speaker, presided over the Change of Command Ceremony held at Headquarters 802nd Infantry (Peerless) Brigade, 8ID, PA stationed at Camp Downes, Ormoc City.
