"With the breakthrough in the peace negotiation with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), we hope to further equip these soldiers in sending out the message of the government's sincerity to peace with the Communist Part of the Philippines, New People's Army (NPA) and the National Democratic Front", said Maj. Camp Lukban, Catbalogan City    –       Army troops from 63rd Infantry (Innovator) Battalion, 8th Infantry Division, Philippine Army recovered an NPA camp after the clash against the insurgents at around 11:30AM of October 8, 2012 at vicinity Brgy Capoto-an, Las Navas, Northern Samar.

1Lt Owen Yanto of 63IB led the military troops during the 30 minute encounter against the NPAs which resulted to the recovery of NPA camp with 22 makeshift bunkers, eight ponchos, one mess hall and one kitchen and two M16 rifles with live ammunitions and subversive documents.

A top New People's Army (NPA) leader, who led the armed movement in the provinces of Leyte, Bohol and Negros; and his wife; was arrested in Mandaue city by joint elements of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police (PNP) around 5p.m. Friday.

Calixto Vistal or alias Cocoy,Fred and Isom in the NPA was arrested by virtue of an arrest warrant number 2012-21370 for murder as presided by Judge Roderick Maxino, Branch 32 Judicial region in Dumaguete city. His legal wife, Jimmyliza Badayos (alias Jill, Cecile and Mayet) was arrested for illegal possession of firearms and explosives.

Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City— In a simple gesture of kindness last Friday, October 5, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) through the Association of Generals and Flag Officers Ladies Foundation, Inc. (AGFO LFI) distributed more than one hundred wheelchairs to combat amputees and retired soldiers.

The wheelchairs, which were referred to as "Gifts of Mobility" were donated through the collective effort of the Phi Kappa Mu Fraternity of the University of the Philippines College of Medicine. Various AFP medical facilities will be the recipients of these wheelchairs.
