Leon, Iloilo - One soldier was killed following an encounter with undetermined number of the New People's Army (NPA) remnants in Sitio Tabionan, Brgy Bucari, Leon, Iloilo around 7:20 a.m. here today.

The soldier,airlifted to a hospital in Iloilo city but expired, was identified as Private First Class John Philip Durana of Bravo Company of the 82nd Infantry Battalion of the Army's 3rd Infantry Division (3ID).

Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City—Acknowledging the need to unite youth organizations in sustaining the momentum of its peace efforts, the Armed Forces of the Philippines will gather six hundred youth leaders to participate in the first national level Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) that will be held in Davao City from October 28 to October 31.

Anchored with the theme “Networking Youth Leaders for Solidarity,” the activity aims to convene the Youth for Peace members, who are already graduates of regional leadership trainings, to form the National Youth for Peace Movement that will promote a culture of peace, enhance leadership qualities, and strengthen nationalism among the participants.

Camp Peralta, Jamindan, Capiz - As the entire Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) celebrated the 21st anniversary of the ratification and promulgation of the AFP Code of Ethics and the creation of the Office of Ethical Standards and Public Accountability (OESPA), soldiers in all military camps under the 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division (3ID) swore anew their allegiance to the AFP code of ethics during Monday’s flag raising ceremony.

The highlights of the said celebration were the readings of messages by Lt. General Emmanuel Bautista, Commanding General of the Philippine Army (CGPA) and General Jessie Dellosa, Chief of Staff of the AFP (CSAFP), and the oath taking of adherence to the AFP Code of Ethics by all military personnel.

CAMP GEN MACARIO PERALTA JR., Jamindan, Capiz--Having implemented several Internal Peace and Security plans in actual situation, major unit commanders and staff officers are still taking time here to train for mission planning and Stakeholder Engagement which started Monday.

Brigade, battalion commanders and their staff officers are now on a five-day training on Military Decision Making Process (MDMP) and Stakeholder Engagement for the nation's Internal Peace and Security (IPSP) "Bayanihan".

Camp Lukban, Catbalogan City     – Four (4) army soldiers from 43rd Infantry Battalion, 8th Infantry Division, Philippine Army conducting Bayanihan Activities were killed in an armed encounter against the NPAs at vicinity Brgy Ramon, Gandara, Samar yesterday October 21, 2012 around 10:30 in the evening.

Another two (2) soldiers were also wounded in the same armed encounter which lasted for about 30 minutes while undetermined number of casualties were recorded on the enemy side.
