Lucena City- MGEN ALAN R LUGA AFP, commander, Southern Luzon Command (SOLCOM) emphasized the military’s fortified campaign which encourages more rebel to return to the folds of law in regions 4A, 4B and 5.

In an interview at DZAT, a local radio station in Lucena City, MGEN LUGA expressed his optimism on their campaign due to the mounting numbers of New People’s Army (NPA) rebels, both surrendered and arrested since January this year.

Candoni, Negros Occidental – One female member of the New People’s Army (NPA) was killed following an encounter between government forces and an undetermined number of NPA remnants in the outskirts of Brgy West Candoni around 5:30 a.m. here today.

The encounter resulted to one fatality and the recovery of documents of high intelligence value, a backpack and other personal items from the NPA rebels while no casualty was reported on the side of the government troops. It was gathered that the troops from the Army’s 47th Infantry Battalion was conducting community security patrol to check on the reported presence of the  allegedly responsible in recruiting minors when they were fired upon by the rebels.

Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City — Youth leaders from different parts of the country confronted the serious reality with the current situation of the Filipino youth as National Youth Commission (NYC) Chairman, Leon Flores III tackled the realities and issues surrounding our youth, yesterday at the opening ceremony of the first National Youth Leadership Summit (NYLS) in Davao City.

Apart from problems in education, jobs, and illegal drugs, the NYC chairman also revealed that many young individuals don’t belong to an organization.

Leon, Iloilo-Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) used as land mines, banned under the International Humanitarian Law (IHL), continues to be employed by New People's Army rebels here after its recovery today by government troops this morning here.

A platoon under 1st Lieutenant Camlon Ramones of the Army's 82nd Infantry Battalion recovered the said IEDs around 7:30am while scouring the area as a result of an encounter with an undetermined number of NPA rebels Saturday morning.

Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City— Delegates of the National Youth Leadership Summit organized by the Armed Forces of the Philippines give back to nature by planting mangrove saplings on the shores of Barangay Tambo, Samal Island, Davao City yesterday, October 27.

The National Youth Leadership Summit is joined by more than 700 delegates from different provinces of the country. It seeks to build awareness and organize the youth to make them active and responsible citizens of the country.
