Camp Peralta, Jamindan, Capiz – The La Castellana incident was a massacre of civilians. Several investigative bodies, like SOCO, coupled with witnesses’ accounts point to the truth that some civilians were shot to the head after having been initially disabled.

Recently, the Diocese of Kabankalan in Negros Occidental strongly condemned the massacre and stated that the admission of the Communist Part of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) came with “distortions of facts, a bundle of justification and promises of indemnification, which were meant to sanitize the barbarity of the act and impress the world of the group’s faithful adherence to agreements it signed with the government.”

CAMP GENERAL EMILIO AGUINALDO, Quezon City – Despite their projection as a pro-people communist organization, the New People’s Army (NPA) continues to resort to armed violence. The NPAs were responsible for 374 violent incidents recorded for 2012 which caused the death of 53 civilians over the country. Rounding up the statistics, an innocent civilian is killed by the NPA every week last year.

These violent incidents perpetrated by the NPA also resulted to the killings of 81 members of the AFP, 8 from the Philippine National Police (PNP), and 22 CAFGU Active Auxiliary (CAA). Such atrocities is a clear manifestation of the NPAs resorting to force and intimidation to coerce civilians including private firms and individuals, even poor folks in far flung villages of the country to give in to their demands since the NPA has lost its mass base support already.
